Every Donation helps!

For over four centuries the unique collections of Ambras Castle – its Armoury and the Chamber of Art and Wonders – have been housed in their original Renaissance home. Archduke Ferdinand II (1529-1595), the ruler of the Tyrol and one of the most important Habsburg collectors, built the Lower Palace at Ambras expressly to house his collection. This makes Ambras Castle the world’s oldest museum still in situ.

We regard careful renovations and state-of-the-art conservation measures, the study of our precious holdings, our many cultural events and a wide-ranging programme for young visitors our core tasks as a museum, and even in times of reduced budgets we hope to ensure both the quality and the quantity of our activities so that coming generations can continue to enjoy this heritage.

Your donation helps us to achieve this goal and to preserve the cultural treasures housed in our collections for the future.
